Shoe Fit Guide for Narrow Feet
Narrow feet can make shoes feel too roomy even when the length is correct. The answer is not always sizing down.
Common narrow-foot fit issues
Heel slip, loose midfoot hold and side gaps are common signs that the shoe shape is too wide or high-volume.
Better fixes than sizing down
Look for adjustable fastenings, narrower lasts, secure heel counters and insoles if the shoe is only slightly roomy.
- Avoid crushing toes just to fix heel slip.
- Try lace-locking on trainers.
- Choose straps or laces over loose slip-ons.
Common questions
Should narrow feet size down?
Only if there is still enough toe room. Sizing down too far can cause toe pressure.
Can insoles help narrow feet?
They can reduce volume slightly, but they will not fix every loose-fitting shoe.
